OUTER BANKS WEDDING {Katie and Mike}

Late August, I received a frantic e-mail from a bride whose wedding planner/florist randomly stopped returning her calls and essentially dropped off the face of the earth.  She was one month away from her wedding at the Currituck Club in the Outer Banks and needed help….fast.  We happened to have that date available, so we sprang into action collecting all of the couple’s thoughts and ideas, creating inspiration boards, and planning all the details.

Katie loved the idea of using peacock feathers in her bouquet and all of the centerpieces.  I took the peacock (bird) idea and pushed it a little further using alternating vase and bird cage arrangements as centerpieces.

Here are my unprofessional pictures of the bouquets….

The pavilion at the Currituck Club has 30′ high vaulted ceilings…perfect for some sort of installation over the dance floor.  Katie wanted the cafe lights and I decided to add a peacock blue chandelier to the center of the “tented” light pattern.  Stringing them up was an engineering feat for Melissa and I with only 2 plugs and one extension cord, but we have that all down pat now ;)  The white chain was the only thing strong enough to suspend all of these lights -__-

The ceremony took place on the golf course.  Most couples face the water for the typical OBX wedding backdrop, but Katie loved our idea of using the tree as the backdrop and the water as a secondary backdrop.  We hung mason jars with moss and candles from the tree (aka, I threw my little munchkin Melissa into the tree to hang them…LOVE YOU!!), and I must say….I am still obsessed with how it turned out!!

We even had some trespassers for the ceremony!!

Once the ceremony was over, the party headed back to the pavilion where they danced the night away!!

After the wedding, Katie and Mike were sweet enough to review us on Wedding Wire.  This is what they had to say :

“We used Style by Design as are decorator/florist and would highly recommend Amy to anyone.
Our original decorator in the Outer Banks, Renee Landry, suddenly dropped us, without warning, 1 month before our wedding. My wife, who had been calm the entire process, suddenly was in a state of panic. We were recommended to Style by Design (Amy) by a friend who lives in the area, and were extremely pleased. Given that she had roughly 30 days to meet with us, plan/design, order and put together everything, Amy was truly a miracle worker. She was able to take my wife’s vision for table, reception and ceremony decor, and came up with a plan that was perfect. We really only met with Amy once, and exchanged a handful of emails, and everything went off with out a hitch. Amy made all of the arrangements ahead of time by contacting and viewing the venue (Currituck Club), she showed up the day of and put everything together. The flowers were perfect, the table arrangements were better than we could’ve ever imagined, and the ceremony decor was spot on.”

Thank you so much Katie and Mike for allowing us to be a part of your wedding.  We hope married life is treating you well :)

Also, thank you to Ryan Diegelmann of Coastal Shots for providing us with some of these images!!

XOXO
