Meet Laura!!

As i’m sure a few of you noticed, we were/are looking for an intern to provide some extra help around here {still need that graphic designer…}.  There are so many projects underway right now that I thought it would be smart to get some trusted design help for all of the styling/accessorizing/managing projects going on!!  These next few months are when the bulk of the work will be done, so I needed someone local who was available almost immediately.

Insert Laura:

I was SO excited when I got an e-mail from Laura because she sounded like a perfect fit for the SBD team!  Since initially meeting with her, i’ve put her to work and am happy to say that she’s here to stay for a while :)  I asked Laura to write me a little blurb about her background, passions, and where she wants to be in the future and this is what she had to say:

“I was born and raised a southern girl in Columbia, South Carolina.  After graduating from high school, I went on to attend Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences, originally called “Home Economics,”  I discovered my passion in sewing basics, textiles, architectural features, color in design, and interior design.

I graduated in the summer of 2010 and found a job nannying for two wonderful boys in Charlotte, North Carolina. Caring for children is still close to my heart. My boyfriend (now husband) and I got engaged in October of 2010, and I knew the next 11 months were going to be spent planning the wedding of my dreams. I had always dreamed of the idea of being a wedding and event planner, and I knew planning my own would be a true test to whether this dream would come to fruition.

I had the wedding of my dreams and I must admit, I still look through our wedding album once a week. My husband is in the Coast Guard and is stationed in Chesapeake, where we currently reside. I enrolled back in school in an online program for Wedding and Event planning offered by Sheffield School in New York, which led me to Style By Design. I am incredibly excited about what the future brings and feel grateful for the chance to put my passion and skills to good use!”

Here’s a design board I created from her wedding {she designed everything…}

I can’t wait for you guys to meet her!!

XOXO
