Eight months ago, I had the pleasure of working with Premiere Bride Magazine on a photoshoot by the talented Will King at the Contemporary Art Center. The shoot was for a fashion spread in the magazine, but Kristine Marie Makeup Artistry invited me along to create a reception table and to help style the shoot so that I could get my business of the ground (how sweet was she?!).
Over the course of a few weeks, Kristine and I selected bride and bridesmaid attire (from Maya Couture), I worked with Palette of Petals to design an amazing centerpiece (the BEST florists), I had my friend Taylor create cake pops as escort cards (while she was on vacation), I created a custom invitation suite, and I purchased all the items for the table set-up. June 3rd finally rolled around and the shoot FLEW by!! We started with pictures of my table set-up and then once the girls were out of hair and makeup, Will posed them one by one in front of the table. While they were taking table shots, I was in the atrium helping Pallete of Petals set up an “altar” scene….I even dragged benches from random places throughout the venue to use as guest seating for the “ceremony” and unrolled some unused wallpaper I found in a closet to be the “aisle” (though it was a bit ghetto looking) ;) Towards the end of the shoot, Kristine had all of the bridesmaids hop into wedding gowns and take individual pictures. I moved the piano around and set up candles for “ambiance” and then brought out Olivia’s chair (One of the “bridesmaids,” my friend Olivia, had posted this amazing chair on her personal Facebook page…being the stalker that I am, I asked her to bring it along because it fit well with the theme of the shoot)…both scenes actually made it into the magazine!
Unfortunately, despite all of the effort on our part, we only received a few edited pictures of the table from this shoot. I knew that everyone wanted to wait until the magazine was published to release pictures. Now that the issue is published and marketing material for another magazine is being handed out with our table design (but no credit), I think it’s finally time to share the few images i’ve been able to scrounge from other people’s websites from this shoot…. I hope you enjoy them because it was not an easy task conjuring up the images ;)
The invitation suite was a series of contemporary patterns put together such that the whole package created an art piece in itself. It matched seamlessly with the table graphics and the cake pops and we got some pretty awesome images of all of the details. Unfortunately all of those images haven’t been edited by the photographer, so all you get is this screen shot :/
