Style by Design’s event planning and event design services technically began decades ago in 1995 when little Amy decided to plan a fundraiser party to benefit the earthquake victims in Japan. After hand making flyers for all the classrooms in my elementary school and planning a benefit lunch, I was able to raise $420 to send to Red Cross. From that point forward, I continued to contribute my event coordination and design experience through charities and organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Make a Switch Virginia Tech, IDEAS, and the Roc Solid Foundation. Through word of mouth, the charity work slowly segued into small private events which slowly segued into wedding planning and design when I got married on 1/1/11. While planning my wedding, I was bitten by the wedding bug and haven’t turned back since.
Through my background in interior design and event planning, I aim to take your event to the next level of creativity. I love to imagine, create, play with materials, dream of colors, textures, take a small little piece of inspiration and craft it into an entire event experience. The design for your event should be an interpretation of your wedding vision that encompasses everything from paper goods, to linens, venue choices, to tabletop/environment styling, and a menu you can love and will remember for years to come. All of the details for your event should enhance the overall design experience while hinting at your unique passions and personality.

In addition to full service planning and coordination, we also offer the services below.
Weekend-of Coordination– Beginning with an initial meeting, we will organize your vendors and create an in-depth day of timeline for your wedding party and vendors to follow. We will then orchestrate your rehearsal to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day of the event (up to 1 hour). Finally, on the day of the event we will have two people on site (for 8 hours) to help organize and keep the bridal party on track, field calls and answer questions from guests and vendors, distribute vendor payments, ensure that furniture is set up as the couple envisioned it, set up decor for the ceremony and reception, organize the bridal party (ceremony, grand entrance, dances, send-off, etc), usher guests between individual portions of the event (ceremony, reception, cake, exit, etc.), act as a liason between you and your vendors, and secure cards and gifts.
Vendor Checklists and Event Timelines- These documents help the couple ask the most important questions at vendor meetings, organize the different events on the weekend of the wedding, and help to keep the guests, vendors, and bridal party on schedule.
Inspiration Boards- We create a visual representation of your wedding ideas to ensure that everything works well together. We will create up to three boards that will then be pared down to one final board. The items on this board include anything you can imagine….cake design, wedding party fashion, altar decor, ceremony decor, escort cards, signature cocktails, bouquets, color palettes, etc.
Graphic Design– We design it, you print it…saving you a ton of money in the meantime! We design anything you need including custom save the dates, invitations, programs, menus, seating charts, escort cards, website design, etc.
Floral Design– With a few years of experience under our belts, we are now offering floral services…furthering our goal to become the “one-stop-wedding-shop.” We have the ability to create beautiful bouquets, bouttonnieres, ceremony decor, table decor, etc.
Vendor Sketches- Do you know exactly what you want, but your afraid that your vendor isn’t going to understand it? Why not have us create a custom rendering to give them showing exactly the design you want? We can also attend these meetings with you to ensure that your idea is fully expressed and understood.
Custom Decor Creation- If you can imagine it, we can create it….or find someone who can!! These creations range from custom altar arches, hand made backdrops (ceremony, reception, photobooth, etc), creative escort card ideas, unique linens (i.e. burlap runners trimmed in lace), signage, hand made invitations or programs (or any other graphics), and basically anything else you may find in a magazine or on Pinterest!!
Floor Plans and Seating Charts- Custom to each venue, these scaled drawings are created to assist the bride in creating an event floorplan and seating chart.
